I don’t enjoy working in the business any more

At TI we believe firmly that a business is an asset with which to maximise your enjoyment in life.

This can be paying the bills, or funding a lifestyle coupled with fulfilling an ambition to achieve something.

This can damage the business but infinitely more importantly this will definitely damage the happiness and feeling of wellbeing of the owner.

Most owner managers are excited and energised in the early (start up) and mid (growth) stages of the business. However, over time as the business and the owner manager evolves then the relationship can stop working.

This can damage the business but infinitely more importantly this will definitely damage the happiness and feeling of wellbeing of the owner.

There are any number of relevant underlying causes to this misalignment but the examples that we help with can include;

  • Business needs a skill set that the owner cannot provide or a role they are not happy undertaking.
  • Business requires capital that the owner cannot provide or is not comfortable risking
  • Market has changed in a way that the owner is less comfortable or happy working in

Or very commonly

  • The business has grown to a complexity level where senior management is required and the owner can’t recruit, retain and motivate them or is uncomfortable “letting go”

In all of these situations selling to TI is a very sound solution. Many owners would prefer the “partial” sale options which allow the owner to retain involvement, equity and “upside”.

Every situation is unique and we would be delighted to discuss yours with you and understand how your business works, however, you can read about our standard deal structures here
